LOVING LITERACY with Ann-Maree Thompson: Ann-Maree has taught in elementary schools for over 17 years, many of which have been spent teaching grades 1 and 2 in both urban and rural locations. Her experience in, and passion for teaching early literacy led her to train and teach as a Reading Recovery Teacher. In 2011 Ann-Maree was nominated for the Australian Scholarships Group (ASG) Inspirational Teaching Award by members of her school community. Her self-published children’s book, Bizi The Musk Duck of Barren Box Swamp was shortlisted for the 2013 Wilderness Society of Australia Environment Award for Children’s Literature. She is currently training adults in education support. She would like to inspire teachers to spread the love for literacy! Ann-Maree holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Canberra and a Graduate Diploma of Education from University of New England (Armidale).
