You Can With Beakman and Jax
http://www.youcan.com/
GRADE LEVEL: 2-8
CONTENT:
This site is based on characters from the television show "Beakman's World" and the syndicated "You Can With Beakman and Jax". The site has interactive demos, questions, images, and other science information for kids.
AESTHETICS:
This is a very colorful site that uses cartoons and images to appeal to a younger audience.
ORGANIZATION:
Since the site uses large fonts and big buttons, all links are easy for students (and other users) to find. Everything is well marked and explained and each page has a link to the other sections of the site.

REVIEW:
Although this is a site for students, it could also be used easily by science teachers who want to incorporate the Internet into their classrooms. A portion of the site has information on the television program "Beakman's World" such as air dates, television stations carrying the show, and topics for future editions of the "You Can" series. The site has a great question and answer section that covers current "hot" science topics such as "How do cellular phones work?" and "How does the Internet work?" The interactive demos demonstrate the answers to some of the questions but may require additional enhancements for browsers. The site also includes images from space and links to other "scientific" sites on the Web. Students would enjoy browsing through this site.
