A
Presidents of the United States
http://www.peoples.net/~southbd/
GRADE LEVEL: 6-12

A CONTENT:
What began as a school assignment ends in a site with information on all the Presidents of the United States.

A+ AESTHETICS:
This website uses thumbnail portraits of each of the Presidents on the main page and larger graphics of the Presidents and their wives on each subsequent page.

A+ ORGANIZATION:
Each of the President's pages has a link back to the home page or to the prior or next President chronologically.

REVIEW:
The assignment was to find as much information as possible on each of the Presidents of the United States. The more facts a student gathered on a President the better the grade so this site is full of information. Each President's page has a portrait of himself and his wife and facts about the President including: birth-death dates, family, Vice President, Presidents serving before and after, world events occurring during the Presidency and personal information such place of birth and burial locations, children, religion, college education and profession. The students used encyclopedias, almanacs, books, and the internet to get their information. The pages also include links to related information and the link for the next President in 2000 has links for each of the political parties in America. This is another great example of students using the internet to learn AND teach others at the same time. It would be a great resource for history and political science teachers as well as any discipline looking for ideas for an internet project.
