REVIEW:
This site is interesting to browse specifically because it was created by students. Their perspective on the subject matter shows through on each of the sections as well as the overall concept of a website. The Middle Ages website is the project of 7th grade students at Luther Burbank Middle School in Burbank, California and was designed to teach others about life in the Middle Ages. By using works created by the students themselves the site gives the whole "lesson" a unique angle on the subject matter. This site includes sections such as illustrated articles based on facts about life in the Middle Ages; student artwork, including scanned drawings and computer graphics; a very interesting project called "Life as a ...", which are stories written by students on their perspective of life while they are pretending to be a knight, peasant, lord, lady, or monk . Also included are links to outside internet resources and reference books. Other sections are being added including an online quiz, other projects and stories. The website welcomes articles or artwork by other students or teachers for inclusion. Besides being a source for information on the Middle Ages, as well as an insight into students' ideas on the subject, this site also makes an excellent guide for other classes beginning an online project.
