Bugs In The News
http://people.ku.edu/~jbrown/bugs.html
GRADE LEVEL: 7-12

CONTENT:
A Web site set up by a professor of microbiology to provide background information and explanations of viruses, bacteria, and other "bugs" in the news.

AESTHETICS:
Most of the site is tightly spaced text. Some articles have graphics depicting organisms.

ORGANIZATION:
Each page has the same menu at the bottom, which allows users to visit all sections of the site or to return to the homepage.

REVIEW:
A microbiology professor created this site in an effort to educate students and the general public about microbiological organisms that are making news headlines. The professor wrote most of the site's articles. Information is divided into three main categories -- "What the Heck is...????," which discusses currently "hot" organisms; "General Interest," which provides information on recently "hot" topics; and "More Bug Bytes," which provides links to related microbiology issues. Most articles have links to additional resources. This is a great find for science teachers in upper intermediate or high school classes.
