The Smithsonian’s History Explorer provides teachers and students with resources for teaching and learning American history using object-based learning strategies. There are many images of museum artifacts, with detailed descriptions as well as related resources and artifacts. The lessons and activities section offers a listing of standards-based lesson plans that can be filtered by a variety of options. Additionally, users will find a description of each lesson/activity, the appropriate grade levels, the duration of the lesson, and the date when it was posted to the site. Finally, the Interactives/Media section offers a wealth of audio, video, and interactive resources that can be used by students without the help of a teacher or parent.
