REVIEW:
This site has lots of useful information for anyone interested in social justice such as transcripts and audio recordings of some of King’s most important speeches and sermons. The Liberation Curriculum offers teachers lesson plans, classroom resources and a liberation community. These materials engage students in active learning and critical inquiry that address issues “of social justice, transformation, and reconciliation while meeting state and national standards." The resources include such materials as King’s speeches, primary documents, worksheets, chronologies and the King Encyclopedia with over fifty entries related to the civil rights movement. Lesson plans include standards, essential questions, activities, handouts and instructions for implementation and cover such topics as The Montgomery Bus Boycott and King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. By joining the Liberation Community, users gain access to more educational materials, and a searchable database of primary source documents.
