REVIEW:
This site has lots of useful information -- such as transcripts and audio recordings of some of King’s most important speeches and sermons -- for anyone interested in social justice. The Liberation Curriculum offers lesson plans, classroom resources, and a liberation community. These materials engage students in active learning and critical inquiry that address issues “of social justice, transformation, and reconciliation while meeting state and national standards." The resources include such materials as King’s speeches, primary documents, worksheets, chronologies, and the King Encyclopedia, which has many entries related to the civil rights movement. Lesson plans include standards, essential questions, activities, handouts, and instructions for implementation. They cover such topics as The Montgomery Bus Boycott and King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. By joining the Liberation Community, users gain access to more educational materials and a searchable database of primary source documents.
