http://www.theholidayzone.com/main.html
CONTENT:
The Holiday Zone offers ideas, activities, links, and resources to
celebrate the holidays with children all through the year.
AESTHETICS:
These pages use simple, attractive, holiday-related graphics or photos
and easy to read text. Several of the holiday pages play music, but
there is an option at the bottom of the pages to stop play.
ORGANIZATION:
The Holiday Zone uses a frame format to allow visitors to move from
holiday to holiday with ease. The left-side frame has links to all
the holiday pages available. The homepage of the site seems to be
seasonal -- listing holidays available and some information about
each.
REVIEW:
The Holiday Zone is a compilation of holiday ideas and activities
that should be helpful to elementary teachers, parents, and anyone
else celebrating holidays with children. Originally created by a teacher
as a way to organize links used in her classroom, the site has grown
and covers many holidays and celebrations throughout the year. Each
holiday/celebration collection includes art and craft ideas, songs
and finger plays, books and poetry, and discussion topics. Many of
the activities are suitable for ESL/EFL students. Several of the holiday
pages include a Language Arts section and some include leveled reading
passages with comprehension questions and activities. Holiday pages
available include New Years, Black History Month, Cinco de Mayo, Flag
Day, and Veteran's Day, in addition to collections of autumn and winter
celebrations. The site offers Craft
Recipes for Year Round Fun page and also a page of recommended
links to other holiday sites on the Web.
