Pop star Taylor Swift continues to give back to her fans and the community. Although it hasn't been confirmed publicly by Swift, it's been said she came through with her pledge last year to donate proceeds from her song "Welcome to New York" to the city's public schools.

Swift has made a $50,000 donation to the New York City Department of Education, according to an article on Time.com. 

"The recent N.Y.C. transplant made the promise last October in an appearance on The View," the article said. "'It’s selling really, really well, which is good because I’m donating all my proceeds to New York City public schools,' she said at the time."

According to the article, "it was not immediately clear if the $50,000 represents Swift’s full take from the song’s profits, or if this is a first installment of a larger donation."

"Swift – who has topped DoSomething.org’s 'Celebs Gone Good' list, recognizing the most philanthropic stars, for three years running – also held an event last fall with N.Y.C. schoolkids to talk about the power of reading and writing," the article said.

According to an article on The New York Times, Devora Kaye, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, said that the city "was deeply appreciative of this kind gesture."

"The $50,000 will go toward Sing!, a student-run musical production competition for high schoolers, Ms. Kaye said," according to the article.

The article said that Tree Paine, Swift's publicist, said that "this is not a one-time donation."

"Taylor will continue to donate the proceeds she receives from the sale of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to N.Y.C. public schools," Paine said.
