CELEBRATE AMERICA

Patriotism ran high following 9/11. Younger students especially can benefit by focusing on the positive patriotic aspects to remembrances, rather than on the tragedy itself. Students might research what it means to be an American and what our country represents. The following resources should help:

  • Ben's Guide, by the U.S. Government Printing Office, is an excellent resource for all grade levels.
  • The American Memory Collection at The Library of Congress is appropriate for students in grades 4-8.
  • Pre-K-1 students can color patriotic pictures at Coloring.com.
