WHERE'S THE HYPERLINK?
Notice that the hyperlinked phrase Techtorial Introductions is in color (normally a medium blue) and underlined. Most hyperlinks are formatted in that way, so users can find and click them quickly and easily. When you click on a hyperlink, the color changes, often to medium purple.
Put your mouse over the words "Techtorial Introductions" in the paragraph above. Notice that the cursor becomes a hand. The hand also indicates a hyperlink.
Not all hyperlinks appear in colored underlined text, however. Some hyperlinks are not as easy to find. Go to Daily Life in the American Colonies. Do you see the hyperlinks? Drag your mouse over the picture in the frame. Notice that as it passes over various objects in the picture, the cursor becomes a hand. The hand indicates a hyperlink to information about something in the picture.
Hot tip: Sometimes, advertisers employ pop-up ads to try to
convince you that your computer needs more memory or more protection,
or has a problem of some kind. The ads often look very similar to
a real alert window deployed by your computer. To tell whether an
alert is real or an ad, drag your mouse over the ad. If a hand appears,
the "alert" is an ad. If an arrow appears, the alert is probably
real.
