LAYING THE TRACK

For this demo track, we'll include three sites. To add those sites,

  • Next to Link Title, type: Background Information
  • Next to URL, type: www.americasstory.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi/jb/revolut
  • Beneath Annotation, type: Be sure to scroll down, click 'The British Are Coming," and record on a note card three important facts from the page.
  • Follow the steps above to add to your track the Eyewitness Accounts site at http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/18frm.htm. For the annotation, type: Pick one eyewitness account that occurred between 1775 and 1783 and read that account. Record the 'who, what, where, when, and why' of the story you read.
  • Follow the steps above to add a the Biographies Dictionary site at http://www.s9.com/biography. For the annotation, type: Click Search the Dictionary and type the name of a general from either the British or American army. Read the general's biography and on your note card, in 20 words or less, summarize his accomplishments.
  • Your screen should look something like this:
    [Insert 3trackstar.jpg]
  • Leaving all other site fields blank, scroll to the top of the page and click Save at top right. TrackStar now will check the URLs you typed to make sure they work. If you've mistyped an address, you'll get a chance to correct it here.
  • The next page will say, "Created Track#_____ American Revolution Sites for Middle School." Write down the six-digit track ID and save that number! You will need the number to access your track in the future.
Congratulations! You've created your first TrackStar track.
