  • Baseball is game that is played in a large field.  The field has what is called a diamond on it.  The diamond is made up of four bases: home plate, first base, second base and third base.
  • There are two teams that play against each other.  One team is in the field and tries to catch the ball and get the other team out.  The team that is up at bat uses a baseball bat to hit a baseball.  The goal is to score as many runs as you can by hitting the ball and having your players run around the bases until they get to home plate.
  • Baseball can be a lot of fun to watch.  There are many different professional baseball teams.
  • Baseball is not a quick game.  Everyone is not moving around at the same time and there are nine innings, which can take a very long time.
  • To be able to play baseball, you need to be able to throw a ball, catch a ball using a baseball glove and hit a baseball with a baseball bat.  These things can be hard to learn.
  • Today, you are going to be listening to a book called The Berenstain Bears Go Out For the Team.  This book is all about the Berenstain Bears.  There are many different books about them.  You may have read some before.  This book is about playing baseball.
  • After we listen to the book, I am going to give you a worksheet that has questions about  The Berenstain Bears Go Out For the Team.
  • After you have finished doing the worksheet, we will talk about your answers.
  • Does anyone have any questions?
