Cooperation

Jacob and Olivia are brother and sister.  They usually do not like to play with the same toys.  When it is nice outside, Jacob and Olivia like to go outside.  Jacob likes to kick a ball around and Olivia likes to swing.  Today it is raining outside.  Jacob and Olivia’s dad tells them that they need find something to play together.  Jacob says that he wants to play with playdough.  Olivia says that she wants to paint.

Their dad tells them that they need to work together to figure out what they are going to play.  Jacob and Olivia look at each other and do not know what to do.  Jacob says, “I really want to play with playdough.  Would you play with me and help me to make cars that we can drive?”  Olivia says, “I will play playdough and make cars with you if you will paint with me after.  I really want to paint a picture of a horse and need help.  Will you help me with it?”  Jacob says yes.  So, Jacob and Olivia spend the morning playing with playdough and then painting.
