Materials:

Starter:

Say:

  • Do you ever think about what it would be like if you were in a story that you were reading?  (Allow the students to answer.)

Main:

Say:

  • Imagining that you are in a story or that you are one of the characters in a story can be a lot of fun.
  • Sometimes, you might disagree with the way a character reacts to something or disagree with an action that a character takes.
  • It is important to think about why you would want to be a character and how you would act if you were that character.
  • It is also important to be able to explain why you would have acted the way you think you would if you were a character.  Being able to explain your opinion about why you would act the way you did helps people to understand how you think and feel.
  • For example, if you thought you would like to be Little Red Riding Hood and you would run away from the wolf, it is important to explain why you would act that way.
  • You are now going to be writing about how you would have reacted if you were the one to find the Frog Prince.  Think about what the princess did and if you agreed or disagreed with her actions to help you get started.  Then, you will be sharing what you wrote.
  • Does anyone have any questions?

Feedback:

Say:

  • Who would like to share the story that you wrote?  (Allow the students to share.)
