What is your Passion When you Teach? Let’s Talk Science and Math: With Dr. Jeff

As teachers, we all have a passion, and this passion is often our favorite part of what we teach our students. I personally love Literacy and do a lot of research, writing, and presenting hands-on learning approaches when teaching children to read. Each teacher is different in what their passion is, but whatever that passion is, take it and be the best you can be for your students.

I love to collaborate and engage with other professionals, and recently I had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Jeff Vinokur, whose passion is Science. Dr. Jeff has a Ph.D. from UCLA in "Biochemistry, Molecular, and Structural Biology," and he has over 25 million YouTube views as a hip-hop dancer and has performed wild science experiments on numerous television shows. I sat in awe as I watched his experiments. I was truly excited to share with you what he is doing to help teachers, families, and students learn about Science and Math as the Dancing Scientist.

His passion is working with and helping younger students learn to LOVE Science and Math! He has traveled all over working with students and teachers. Generation Genius reaches more than 1 million students in a week. ! His role models were Steve Irwin and Bill Nye the Science Guy. He decided he wanted to pave the “new way” of teaching Science and Math, so he started Generation Genius! You do NOT want to miss out on this amazing resource!

What you need to know about this excellent supplemental resource/curriculum:

1. Currently, Generation Genius is a new tool for teaching Science. It brings school Science standards to life while also providing so many other resources! It is broken up into lessons for K-2, Grades 3-5, and grades 6-8.

2. Generation Genius is currently being used in 20,000 schools.

3. This Science curriculum/resource is for K-8 students and can be used by teachers, administrators, families, and anyone working with children.

4. Lessons are interactive, fun, engaging and keep the student’s interest while teaching Science concepts!

5. Standards are broken down by state and grade level! It is amazing the work that has been put into this part, as you can take it and put it straight into your very own lesson plan!

6. Each lesson and video comes with lesson materials: discussion questions before and after the lesson, vocabulary, reading materials for the students, a DIY activity guide, a lesson plan, a teacher guide, a quiz that can be taken through PDF, online game, or Google form and an Exit Ticket for your students.

7. In the near future, all lessons will also be in Spanish.

8. There are currently 117 videos that teach Science!

9. There is Science Blog with amazing articles and resources for you and your students.

10. Math is the next big thing to be coming to Generation Genius! Get ready. It will be available in September 2021!

I share this resource because I was truly intrigued by what Generation Genius shares for anyone that want wants to enrich their Science curriculum or use this for their curriculum if there isn’t one already in place. You can try it for free, and one of his main points is that he wants students to LOVE, ENJOY, ENGAGE, and appreciate Science! This is one of the best resources I have seen in a very long time. Science is a subject where we can really get students involved! I was so excited when I met and watched Dr. Jeff in action!
