Treasures: Classrooms on Constitution Day

  1. Across our great land this week~ social studies teachers will hail the penning and adoption of the US Constitution. In my classroom~ we annually celebrate with festive dress~ a sheet cake decorated like the flag~ and a treasure trove of trivia about the Constitution. What a great day to watch kids respond as their Constitutional Law/Government teacher goes crazy for a holiday most Americans don't realize exists! Throughout the school I am boasting~ "Happy Constitution Day" to all I pass in hallways~ restrooms~ and dinning areas~ and kids respond~ "Same to you Doc!" This is a great way to start Constitution week here in Williamsburg~ Virginia!
  2. Teaching is a treasure to enjoy as much as the Constitution is a treasure to teach! Today was a fun day! Conversations with students about Marburyv. Madison~ the intention of the Founders around the Supreme Court~ and Federalist and Anti-Federalist positions about the Constitution within a Socratic conversation is sweeter when punctuated with red~ white and blue smiling teeth! Happy Constitution Day!
