High-School Sample for Teaching Master Activity

DIRECTIONS:Ten high schools are listed below. You might substitute your own school's page on the NCES Classroom site (http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/school/default.htm ) for one of the schools listed below. Note that all schools are not 9-12 schools, so some columns on the Teaching Master will be blank.

One school doesn't list the number of teachers (NA).
Three schools have students who don't fit in 9-12; instruct students to omit those students when they calculate percentages on TM3 since they represent a fraction of a percent.

As a follow-up to this activity, you might create a handful of questions to post in a learning center or as a board activity. Students can use the data they have collected to answer questions such as

Which school has the most teachers?
Which school has the largest percentage of ninth graders?
Which school has the fewest students?
