"It was fun. I was a little nervous. What I liked the best was the awards. It had a little lamp on it."
"I was a little scared, but when we answered some of the questions, we weren't that nervous."
"The most important thing to me about Book Bowl was that we came in first in our local competition and fourth in the city-wide finals. I liked reading all those exciting books. I would really love to do it again. We learned about evil villains, people, and animals. It was a lot of fun."
"I think that Book Bowl was one of the best things that I got into. I liked it because of the competitions. It was very exciting. My favorite book was The Chocolate Touch. That's why I'm looking forward to being in it next year."
"My favorite part about Book Bowl was reading the books. My favorite books were Off and Running and The Taste of Blackberries. I was excited to be in the Book Bowl to meet people and the mayor (of New Haven). I enjoyed working together and having fun! Even though we didn't win, I had fun."
"I thought that Book Bowl would be boring because I was the only boy (on our team). Some of the books were pretty good, such as The Million Dollar Shot and Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher. The illustrations also gave me some ideas of my own. (I was glad to hear) my mom said that she is proud of me." "I liked Book Bowl. It was fun. It was exciting when we went to the Book Bowl finals. My favorite book was The Chocolate Touch." --Bailey, grade 4, Davis Street Interdistrict Magnet School
"I participated in Book Bowl because I love to read. I enjoy reading all different kinds of books, including mystery, animal fiction, etc. I like why and how you do Book Bowl. It's fun and educational for all ages. I think they should start a mini Book Bowl to help (younger) kids learn to read and make it fun. I really enjoyed Book Bowl this year and will probably do it next year. I had fun!"
"It made me want to read because the books were good. I needed to use my memory too. I think after reading most of those books I can read a little bit better."
"Participating in Book Bowl made me want to read more and read faster."
