Main:
Say:
- When we hear or read about something from two different people, it is called getting information from two sources.
- Getting information from two or more sources is very helpful because you can learn different information from the sources.
- Many times, different sources will have information that is the same. They will also have some information that is different.
- It is important to know how to figure out what information is important. If both sources have the same information, do you think it is important? (Allow the students to answer.)
- Usually if both sources have the same information, that information is important.
- Then, you need to figure out what information might be important that is not the same from both sources.
- Information that is important are things like dates, places and details on how to do something.
- For example, if you were making cookies, it would be important to know what ingredients you need, what the temperature to bake them and how long to bake them.
- Some of the details that might not be as important would be the color bowl to mix the ingredients in and what to mix them with.
- Now, you are going to be reading about how to plant a tree from two different sources. After you have read both paragraphs, you will be writing your own paragraph about how to plant a tree. Make sure that you use the important information from both sources.
- Does anyone have any questions?
Feedback:
Say:
- Who would like to share your answers? (Allow the students to share and go over the answers.)
