Full Project Description

The Online Science-athon offers elementary and middle-grade students opportunities to discover the science in their daily lives. Each event challenges students to investigate their world in ways that are engaging and fun, easy for teachers to incorporate into their teaching, and instructive. Yet, common to all of the events is that they are delivered from the Science-athon web site, result in class data that is submitted to a central data base,and include the exploration of questions using displays of student-generated data.

How Tall Am I?January - April, 2001
Catching SunshineApril - June, 2001

Project Objectives

Students doing the Scienceathon will develop standards-based understandings of

  • technological design
  • science process
  • science content relevant to the event
  • the use of data to accomplish the above.
