Federal Student Loan Discharges and Cancelations Chart

If you're a teacher serving in a low-income or subject-matter shortage area, it may be possible for you to cancel or defer your student loans.

Americorps
AmeriCorps (VISTA Volunteers) is the national service program through which 40,000 people each year tackle community problems from disaster relief to tutoring. Volunteers recieve a small stipend and scholarships. Americorps service also looks great on a resume!

According to the National Center for Education Information (NCEI), interest in alternative certification programs is escalating, as more career changers and people with noneducation degrees seek entry into public school teaching.
