Boys & Girls Club to Provide Children Nationwide with 3D Printers

The Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) is partnering with Polar 3D to install 3D printers in its clubs across the nation, providing thousands of kids with access to the advanced learning technology.

"Polar 3D, which launched its 3D printer at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2015, will donate 3D printers to Boys & Girls Clubs around the country to help drive BGCA's overall science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and innovation strategy," said BGCA in a statement.

The 3D printing labs are part of initiative to help facilitate innovation in young and teen learners in a nationwide push towards critical thinking.

Polar 3D will also be supplying BGCA with an instruction guide designed to help all staff, despite skill level, understand how to work and implement the new technology in the clubs to optimize the devices' learning potential.

The efforts represent not only a push for innovation, but also another effort in the nationwide push to get children into studying STEM.

"There is a vast opportunity gap for underrepresented kids and teens in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering and math," said Kimberly Boyd, national vice president of Program, Training & Youth Development Services at BGCA. "Thanks to partners like Polar 3D, we are able to provide fun, hands-on learning experiences that develop important innovation and problem solving skills and set our youth on the path to great futures."

Polar 3D is a relatively new company, starting in 2013 with the intention of helping to inspire students to think like entrepreneurs.
