Correction: Education World previously reported that Tes Global had spent $8.3 billion to expand its content to the U.S. However, that figure is a reference to the digital education content market as a whole.

Look out, Teachers Pay Teachers. Tes Global, the world's largest teacher network, has expanded its sphere of influence to include the U.S.

Tes.com will allow for teachers across the country to access worldwide content for their classroom, as well as allow for them to share or sell their own. Said the company in a statement:

Tes.com allows U.S. educators to access a global community of teachers and resources. With over 7.3 million registered users, TES is home to the largest online network of teachers worldwide. This active community downloads over one million resources a day. U.S. teachers will be able to share or sell their resources on tes.com, and unlike other platforms, will receive 100% of the proceeds from content sold.

As more than 69% of teachers say they use open resources over textbooks, sites that allow teachers to share and download peer-approved content are becoming increasingly more popular.

What makes Tes.com unique is that unlike other sites where teachers upload content, they will be able to keep 100% of their profit for content sold.

Plus, it's a massive network that boasts 20,000-30,000 new global members monthly, helping it accrue its current 7.3 million-person membership. 1.8 million of those members, according to the company, are U.S. teachers.

Tes.com also provides teachers with business support to help teachers market their content.

"TES' expert team of content analysts, who are all former classroom teachers, give personalized guidance and support to help authors reach their entrepreneurial goals."

Indeed, selling content can prove to be a profitable business for teachers.

Just last week, a Georgia teacher made news for the $1 million she makes annually thanks to selling her popular content on Teachers Pay Teachers. She started out as a normal teacher living paycheck-to-paycheck who was encouraged by peers to upload her inspiring lessons for the benefit of others. 

"Teachers are the real experts in education," said Rob Grimshaw, chief executive officer of TES Global. "Great teachers innovate every day in their classroom, developing tips, resources and materials. With the launch of tes.com, they can now share with a vibrant global network of fellow teachers facing similar challenges."
