This page is addressed to anyone who would like to know more about Education World and Lucky Kat TV. Education World, which grew out of Web projects dating back to 1995, began publishing original content in 1997 and was among the first comprehensive Web sites for educators. When Education World began, there were fewer than half a million sites worldwide. Estimates today run as high as a billion sites globally. Education World's mantra from the start has been "practical, practical, practical," a principle that guided our recent acquisition of SchoolNotes. Another one of the original education Web sites, SchoolNotes.com provides teachers with free Web This year, Education World has begun working with a new pioneering Web enterprise: Lucky Kat TV, whose central cartoon character is a descendent of Maneki Neko, the "lucky cat" of Japanese legend.
As the story goes, a wealthy man, caught in a sudden storm, saw a cat that seemed to beckon the man toward a run-down temple. Intrigued, the wealthy man made his way toward the cat, and just then, lightning struck the tree he'd been standing near. The man bestowed great riches on the humble temple and its "lucky cat," and in the 400 years since, the figure of the lucky cat with a raised paw has become one of the most recognized icons in the world. Lucky Kat TV welcomes young children into an online TV network, a unique environment that combines the ability to watch both cartoon and live-action programming with the interactivity available via the Internet. The goal is to bring Lucky Kat's young viewers their own good fortune in the form of educational, entertaining, and character-building programs and activities. Education World has already begun consulting with Lucky Kat TV and will soon be channeling content for parents, for early childhood educators, and for kids themselves into the unique Lucky Kat environment.
