What's the Mystery State?

Share

Students worked hard all week? Do they deserve a special reward for a job well done? This activity will offer students a nice break from structured learning. Adapt it to fit your needs. Have some Friday Fun!

DESCRIPTION

Education World has created a series of 51 Mystery State work sheets. Have students work on their own, in pairs, or in small groups to use the clues given to figure out which state (or Washington, D.C.) is being described. You might use these sheets on a single Friday Fun afternoon or on a series of Friday Fun afternoons.

  • If you use the activity on a single Friday, you might provide each student/group with five different sheets and see how many of the "mystery states" they can determine in 30 minutes. This activity might be done in the library, where students will have access to a wide variety of information sources.
  • If you use the activity over a series of Fridays, you might create a book of the 50 state work sheets for each student/group.
