According to Virginia Snowden, who manages this extremely attractive Web site for this elementary school in the beautiful town of West Cornwall, Connecticut, this is a very collaborative site. “Teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and students submit pictures, video, and information,” writes Virginia, adding, “the site is updated almost daily.”

“In addition to posting generally helpful study links, the technology coordinator or library media specialist will post specific links for units of study (check out the sixth grade science fair links),” Virginia reports. The site truly is impressive by any measure, but especially so for a small K-8 school (fewer than 200 students) in a relatively rural part of Connecticut.

The site includes a number of video clips that give a unique glimpse into the school’s life. The site uses very intuitive and clean-looking navigation, with a top navigation bar from which pull-down menus can lead the user to the site’s rich array of content. “We are using technology to create geographic and cultural bridges between our rural community and The Curiale School in urban Bridgeport, Connecticut,” Virginia writes. “The site has become a vital communication and learning tool for our school.”
