- Thank you for recognizing my web site. It is in dead an honor. I will add a link to your site when it is updated later this month.
- I take this opportunity to just say a word of 10 Q for being able to send me EW-REVIEWS which r very helpful to me. Thank you again and again. With regards from West Malaysia.
- I tried most of the links at your site and none of them exist.
Webmaster Note: Education World's pages are published in many places across the web, and may have outdated or incorrect links. However, our Homepage AND our "Nonexistent URL" page always lists our Site Guide to bring users to their desired area of the site.
Also, as the internet grows, there are often "traffic jams" and downed routes. If you are unable to contact Education World, this could be a factor. Education World is working to solve this problem by locating servers in multiple locations.
- You have been my favorite teacher website for several years, but I was unhappy with your choice of the depression as your featured site of the week. Whatever happened to Veterans Day? I did a search a couple of days ago with you on Veterans Day and found it compounded by other holidays. I did find a site I can use, but hoped for more. You do an outstanding job with that you do. With our growing society of irresponsible people, we need to strengthen our study of the rights and responsibilities of citizens. This is one reason teachers are leaving the profession. I have taught 33 years, and worry about the future of education in America. I do have a Masters in Curriculum/Instruction-Reflective Practice from George Mason University. It means I'm an observational researcher. I'm happy to share further views with you if you are interested.
Greetings,
Thank you for your kind note regarding Veteran's Day --- an important holiday/citizenship related topic, one worthy of special attention on Education World. As a matter of fact, I considered highlighting
Veteran's Day this November but I didn't for a couple reasons...
First, I wanted to take advantage of a "teachable moment." 1999 is the 70th anniversary of the Great Stock Market Crash and Black Thursday --
events that triggered an important period in American history, the Great Depression. It's not very often that a round-numbered anniversary comes up.
Second, we did a special LESSON PLANNING story in May that tied to Memorial Day [ http://www.education-world.com/a_lesson/lesson119.shtml ]. I decided not to repeat with a large and similar story this November.
Creating an editorial calendar that hits all the high points is a very difficult thing to do. That's why we attempt to spread around those popular teaching themes. Last year we did Native Americans, this year we
didn't. This year we did Grandparents Day, next year we won't. Eventually, we will tackle all topics of wide interest to teachers, including Veteran's Day.
As an aside, several of the scavenger hunt activities in our Celebrate the Century LESSON PLANNING series have related to US involvement in the World Wars and the Korean War. And, sometime next year, we plan as part of a special Millenium series to create activities relating to the World Wars. I also might address the "veterans" theme with a mention of the Valentines for Veterans program in a February holiday story??
It just happened that, for a couple good (?) reasons, I did not address Veteran's Day this month. Stay tuned. We *will* get there! Thanking you for your kind comments, and your patience---
