Great Ideas for Making Mother's Day Gifts in the Classroom

Student-made gifts are the best kinds of gifts around. Moms of your students will appreciate these easy and cost efficient gifts you and your students can make before Mom's special day.

1. Putting Poems to Use

With April being Poetry Month, you probably have had your kids pick out favorite poems or make their own. Put those poems to use with this craft idea.

You need colored construction paper, a set of markers, scissors, and a few boxes of tea to complete this craft.

Using the construction paper and scissors, have your students do their best to mimic the tea pot cutout seen here. Have them place the poem of their choice, or the one feature in the article, in the middle of the teapot. Finish with a complimentary bag of tea to add a cute touch of flair. 

2. Mother's Day Stationary 

Use this easy tutorial to create personalized stationary for every mom in your class. All you need is access to a printer and some colored paper, and this tutorial will show you how to personalize each stationary. As an activity, have your students draw special notes for their mom and tie it all together with some ribbon.

3. Thanks for Raisin' Me, Momma!

Go get some Sun-Made Raisins, and this easy craft is almost complete. Let students have a healthy snack of raisins as they decorate raisin boxes to show appreciation for mom. Lets students use ribbons, pipe cleaners, and buttons to decorate the raisin boxes, but make sure each one comes with a card that says, "Thanks for raisin' me, momma!" What mother doesn't love a good pun? 

4. Mom-Themed Mad Libs

Mad libs are classic and never go out of style because kids say the darndest things and their spontaneous responses will certainly have Mom swooning.

Use this printable template to give to your students to fill out and have them bring home to Mom. 

5. Monster Bookmarks

A great way to pay it forward to your students' Moms for getting them into reading at bedtime all the while keeping the monsters away.

You'll need some cardstock-weight paper, scissors, a glue stick,a ruler, and the template found here and then you and your students are all set to make Monster bookmarks.

After following the cutting and drawing using this tutorial, you and your kids will one the way to making bookmarks that Mom will love.
