Lemonade Stand
http://www.coolmath-games.com/lemonade
GRADE LEVEL: 3-12

B CONTENT:
This site has an interactive online version of the "Lemonade Stand" computer game. Users operate a lemonade stand in order to make a profit and win the game.

B AESTHETICS:
The site uses yellow text on a black background that makes it difficult to read for long periods of time.

B+ ORGANIZATION:
Once users register (by inputting a first name) the site progresses using well-marked buttons.

REVIEW:
The concept of the game is fairly simple. The user has a lemonade stand on a neighbor's yard (with a rental price of 75 cents per day). Each day the user must decide how many cups of lemonade to make based on the weather forecast. The user must also decide how much money to spend (if any) on advertising. For each "day" of the game users receive a daily report telling how many cups they made and sold and how much profit was made. The game continues until users have no more money, decide to retire or reach 25 game days. Because the game is fairly simple even younger students could probably grasp the idea behind it, making it a good candidate for a math lesson for elementary teachers. By stressing the advertising and rental aspects, the game would also offers a solid economics lesson plan for older students and a basic financial lesson for kids of many ages. A good way to make math fun!
