Math, Science & Technology Enhancement Program
http://www.nyu.edu/projects/mstep/
GRADE LEVEL: Professionals

CONTENT:
The Math, Science and Technology Enhancement Program (MSTEP) was created to support implementation of the new Math, Science and Technology Curriculum Frameworks in New York. Those frameworks correspond with other local, state, and national standards -- so other educators can use the information here.

AESTHETICS:
The site uses frames to display the information in the center of the screen, with navigation menus on either side. The site has established guidelines for submitted activities, so most information follows a standard format. The units can be viewed as HTML documents or in PDF format.

ORGANIZATION:
The activities archive is indexed according to grade level (6th to 12th) or can be searched using keywords.

REVIEW:
There are two menus, one on each side of the screen. The left menu has links to the major sections of the site, and the right links to pages within each section. Users can locate information from the Table of Contents as well. The Math, Science and Technology Enhancement Program (MSTEP) comes from the School of Education at New York University and New York City's secondary schools. The program was created to support implementation of the new Math, Science and Technology Curriculum Frameworks for New York State. The site has information on programs, projects, and activities for the frameworks. Users can read details of the standards. Viewers can join groups at the site to discuss aspects of the new frameworks. For educators in New York this offers a supportive environment for dealing with the changes. For other educators, this is a good source of ready-to-use lessons and activities.
