The Grammar Lady
http://www.grammarlady.com/
GRADE LEVEL: 9-12

B CONTENT:
Users can find grammatical questions and answers here. They can ask their own questions of "The Grammar Lady".

B AESTHETICS:
The main page uses pictures of a newspaper column and book covers to represent the different sections. Each area incorporates other graphics for effect.

B ORGANIZATION:
Each of the four sections of the Web site is available from the main page. Additional areas located within each section are easy to find. The newspaper columns are categorized by year, and each page has a link back to the home page or the beginning of the section.

REVIEW:
The Grammar Lady began as a weekly column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette called the "Grammar Hotline". In each column, the Grammar lady responded to questions posed on the Grammar Hotline. (The hotline was set up in the late 1980's by the Coalition of Adult Literacy. Most Coalition programs are operated by college/university English Departments or writing programs. The one that sponsors this site was run by a community service agency.) The site also includes commonly asked questions. The English grammar section has spelling rules, homophones, a "Question of the Week," and a bookstore. The site includes an online biography of the "Grammar Lady." This is a good resource for anyone interested in grammar and a great place to pose a question that a user can't seem to find the answer to.
