Grand Canyon Explorer
http://www.kaibab.org/grand.htm
GRADE LEVEL: 2-12

CONTENT:
The Grand Canyon Explorer is a great way to visit one of America's most awe-inspiring natural treasures -- virtually! Here, you'll find tons of great images and information on the history, geology, and natural beauty of Grand Canyon National Park.

AESTHETICS:
The site offers its large library of graphics in both thumbnail and larger versions.

ORGANIZATION:
The site is offered in "normal," with frames, and with JAVA -- plus a choice of three different resolution levels to suit fast and slow Internet connections. Those who use the "normal" version may want to bookmark the index page to make it easier to get back to.

REVIEW:
The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and helped inspire the creation of the National Park Service. If you want to learn more about this geologic masterpiece, the Grand Canyon Explorer is a great place to get started. This site has lots of information about the park, its history, and the geology of the area. Be sure to spend a little time clicking on the links imbedded in the various pages to find the full scope of information this site has to offer. Of particular interest is the history of the Powell Expedition, the first party to successfully run the rapids and explore the length of the Grand Canyon in 1869. The site is oriented to people who want to visit the park but has a lot of potential for classroom use.
