A
Vocabulary University
http://www.vocabulary.com/
GRADE LEVEL: 9-12+

A+ CONTENT:
Vocabulary words and puzzles to help students or anyone interested in increasing their vocabulary and skills are located here. The words are divided into high-elementary, junior high-middle school and high school-college prep levels.

B+ AESTHETICS:
The site contains a lot of colorful graphics and drawings that make the site seem fun and light. The puzzles are also large drawings.

A ORGANIZATION:
The home page has links to each of the levels and the puzzles are available by scrolling down the page. Each puzzle has directions and immediate answers. The subsequent pages don't have navigational links but the site has a limited number of pages that can be accessed from the browser's buttons.

REVIEW:
This site has free puzzles for users who want to practice for upcoming tests or those just wishing to enhance their vocabulary. Registration to the site is free and allows a participant to track their progress as well as earn a diploma at "VOCAB U". According to the site, the exercises are endorsed by teachers and can be used to enrich curriculum and to help students prepare for examinations. The site also suggests use in home-schooling and ESL programs. The structure to the program is 12 sessions (learning 144 words) which earns a degree when completed. Each month new puzzles are added and each time a user completes 12 sessions they get a degree. Entries can be made in any order and there are three levels to choose from (elementary to college prep). This is a great tool for language arts, English and ESL teachers to use as internet-based lesson plans or for anyone interested in brushing up on their vocabulary skills.
