Kids and Community
https://www.planning.org/educators/
GRADE LEVEL: 3-8

CONTENT:
This site offers students the opportunity to explore their own community and compare their community with other communities. Information from "real" people about how they became city planners and what a city planner does allows some learning in career education.
AESTHETICS:
This is a visually pleasing site, and the graphics are low-key and tasteful. In a few places, type is hard to read because of background color.
ORGANIZATION:
The main page leads users to information about city planning and five activities.
REVIEW:
Sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Planners, the site provides information about how city planners develop cities and how planning affects all aspects of the community. The student activities are varied. In Crazy City Stories, students provide parts of speech to create a travel brochure for Dead Skunk Junction. Scavenger Hunt is a valuable activity for exploring local communities. At the Book Corner, students can read book reviews written by other students.
