REVIEW:
Safeguarding the Wired Schoolhouse is a must-see for school administrators and other decision makers. Keeping students safe on the Internet is a concern in every wired school. This site offers excellent information on how to best manage the content that students are able to access. The site presents a checklist of questions that administrators should ask when making content management decisions. For example: How will students use the Internet? Should different standards apply, based on the age of the student? Who should make the decision on what kind of sites are blocked or accessed? The Publications & Tools section gives complete background information that explains the issue of content management and the concerns. The Other Resources section includes links to some of the best sites on the Internet about child safety, acceptable use policies, filtering, and content management.
