GRADE LEVEL: 3-12, Professional

CONTENT:
This is a free and easy-to-use music Web site for creating and composing music online without having to purchase notation software.

AESTHETICS:
The site is bright and colorful with whimsical graphics. It requires the free MusicTime Online plug-in available on the site.

ORGANIZATION:
The site devotes sections to Teachers, Parents, and Students. NotationStation is easy to navigate and provides tutorials for using the features of the site.

REVIEW:
Music teachers can use this point and click way to create music compositions and lessons online. Students will learn music in a fun and interactive way by seeing, hearing, and playing music exercises posted by their teacher or by creating their own. Compositions can be viewed and heard right in the browser as students experiment with transposition, change tempos, work with different instrumental arrangements, or play along. The site offers users the option of importing and exporting standard Midi files. Check out Music at the White House, a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the White House. Registration is required to set up a class site, but it is free.
