Native American Geometry
https://www.earthmeasure.com/
GRADE LEVEL: 3-9

CONTENT:
Native American Geometry explores designs from various Native American nations to illustrate the physical geometry of the simple circle.

AESTHETICS:
Complex, colorful geometric designs add to the eye appeal of the site.

ORGANIZATION:
The site is organized into four main sections: Foundations, Anthropology, Designs, and Education. Each section has its own index page. Users need to use the back button on the browser to return to the home page.

REVIEW:
The site discusses the nature and mathematics of geometry as a "non-random connect-the-dot system grounded by the natural laws of proportion." Instructions and templates for creating two-dimensional geometric designs are provided along with a discussion of the fundamentals of compass and straightedge constructions. The idea of geometry as art and sources of this non-random geometry in other cultures is explored. Teachers can easily reproduce lessons, using tools available in most classrooms, such as a compass, a ruler, paper, and crayons.
