CONTENT
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston developed this Web site to showcase more than 300,000 artworks from its collections. The site features interactive tours and teacher resources.
SITE DESIGN
The design of this site is quite simple considering the amount of material that is covered and how well it is done. The artworks are categorized into eight thematic collections that are featured on the main page and listed in the left sidebar. The database is also fully searchable. Special downloads are necessary to view/listen to the podcasts and can be downloaded at the site.

REVIEW
This is a valuable resource for scholars, art lovers, and school children. The site provides the opportunity for users to explore the more than 300,000 artworks from the museum's collections of some of the most important artistic treasures in the world. The collections include Art of Asia; Oceania and Africa; Europe; the Americas; Ancient World; Contemporary Art; Musical Instruments; Prints, Drawings and Photographs; and Textile and Fashion Arts. These collections include more than 70 online interactive tours, and an archive of audio tours (Podcasts) related to the collections. Teachers will especially find the “My Gallery” section helpful, where they can create their own gallery from the searchable database for use in the classroom. Also available are six free resource guides that can be downloaded. Some of the activities are specific to a museum visit but most of them can be used with an online tour. The guides contain fascinating facts, stories, illustrations of highlighted objects, questioning strategies, suggested Museum and classroom activities, reading lists, and more.
