Grade Level: 6-8, 9-12

http://www.weallusematheveryday.com/tools/waumed/home.htm

CONTENT:
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics has collaborated with Texas Instruments to create this site that complements the CBS television show “Numb3rs”. Although the site complements the television show, the lessons can be used as stand-alone lessons in the classroom. “The program was specifically designed," it says on the site, "to help students (and their parents) realize how relevant math is to everyday activity and understand the importance the subject plays in their future success.”
SITE DESIGN:

The site has a nice design utilizing a top navigation bar. The Activities link takes users to the bulk of the content of the site. No site search is available, so users must browse to find what they need.

REVIEW:
Teachers are always looking for creative ways to link math (and other subjects) to the real world, and this site helps them do that very well. Teachers will find a wealth of lessons that are linked to the mathematics of each episode of the TV show but the lessons can also be used by themselves in the classroom. Activities are grouped by season and episode and cover such topics as exponents, number theory, fractions, graphs, probability, formulas, area, perimeter, symmetry, data analysis, and much more. Also included is a curriculum alignment list of activities. Lessons are available for three seasons of the show and many of the lessons are available in Spanish.
