CONTENT:

LifeWorks, from the National Institutes of Health office of Science Education, explores careers in health and medical sciences and the range of opportunities at different education levels.

SITE DESIGN:

This well-designed site offers a variety of ways to navigate the career database. Users can try the Career Finder or browse the descriptions by alphabetical list, interest area, education required, or median salary.

 

REVIEW:
LifeWorks offers materials and information for middle and high school students, parents, and counselors interested in matching health and medical careers to interest and skills. Users can explore careers from anesthesiologist to microbiologist to veterinarian. Each record contains a summary, job description, education needed, skills, abilities and interest necessary to be successful, and more information. A success story of a real life worker is highlighted each day on the main page complete with an interview and previous success stories are archived. Additionally, students grades 8-12 can explore the section on preparing for college early, with links to sites for finding a college, virtual campus tours, and student aid.
