CONTENT:
The Chopin Early Editions Web site is presented by The University of Chicago Library. It includes over 400 first and early printed editions of musical compositions by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849).
SITE DESIGN:
The site is well designed and the collection is easily searched in a variety of ways right from the main page. Links to other areas of the site are listed on the right side of the page.
 

REVIEW:
This collection features over 400 first and early printed editions of the compositions of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849). The collection is can be searched by keyword as well as ten other categories or browsed in a variety of ways: title; uniform titles; genres such as ballades, concertos, preludes and waltzes; or dedicatees. Visitors can also access the collection register through the link on the right side of the page and find a list of all the scores with a brief identification data and a link to the digital score and a bibliographic description. "Because Chopin's works were often published concurrently in several countries with variant texts, scholars can establish a sequence of publication by comparing a range of printings." Included is a section with information on the digitizing of the collection.
