The Avibase is a rich resource for students and teachers as well as for the casual or more serious bird watcher. It contains more than 1.4 million records about 10,000 species and 22,000 subspecies of birds, including distribution information, taxonomy, synonyms in several languages and links to further information and an onsite “Google” search for pictures. The Checklists offer a listing of all the species of birds found in a particular region based on any of five taxonomic authorities. Bird Links provides a collection of more than 18,000 links to other bird sites around the Web. Users can click on the interactive map to view the links by geographic region or choose a link in the left menu to such categories as backyard birds, books, images, humor, monitoring and Webcams.
