REVIEW:
Wyland Ocean Challenge offers complete K-6 art and science curriculum materials that teach the basic concepts of water cycles, adaptation, and stewardship. The curriculum is divided into K-3 and 4-6 grade levels and each contains up to twenty activities that are tied to national science and visual arts standards. Each grade level is organized around three units: Cycles, Adaptations and Stewardship and "combine science, reading and art to give students a deeper understanding of the concepts that affect our oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, and wetlands." Best of all it is free for teachers to download and use in their classrooms. Included are classroom posters, coloring pages, fact cards, interactive games, and sample Newspaper in the Classroom activities. Be sure to check back for the Art Contest coming this fall.
