http://www.pbs.org/nova/photo51

CONTENT:
The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) produced this site. It explores the "role that Rosalind Franklin and her remarkable X-ray photograph played in one of the greatest discoveries in the history of science."
AESTHETICS:
Photographs, videos and slide shows are used to enhance the content on this site. The layout is simple and user-friendly.
ORGANIZATION:
The site's contents are organized into three main areas. Users can easily navigate to any of these areas from the links on the main page. All internal pages are linked back to the homepage and a right side menu allows movement from one area to the other.

REVIEW:
This PBS site is a companion to the television show and explores the discovery of the double helix and the role that Rosalind Franklin played. Educational materials include background information and interviews as well as slide shows and interactive activities. The famous photograph is analyzed in an interactive activity that explores X-ray diffraction, the "X", diamonds, smears and more. A slide show chronicles the research on DNA from 1952-2001. Visitors to the site can also take an animated journey into the world of DNA. The resources include links to related NOVA sites as well as links to other Web sites and a short booklist.
