CONTENT:
KidsKonnect offers links to child-friendly sites in over 400 areas.
Topics include everything from Algebra and Fossils to Pope John Paul
II and the Industrial Revolution.
AESTHETICS:
KidsKonnect's homepage is easy to read, with a white background and
colorful graphics. The themed links pages vary considerably with theme
appropriate backgrounds and graphics.
ORGANIZATION:
The site offers two ways to find links - alphabetically and by subject.
Both listings are easy to navigate. Each page has links to both of
these pages.
REVIEW:
Designed by an educator in an effort to make Internet use safe for
students and still allow for some exploration by students, the KidsKonnect
site has found a large number of quality sites and arranged them by
topics, making sure all the links and advertising is appropriate for
students. The author asks that she be made aware of any inappropriate
sites linked from KidsKonnect and to be informed of any other sites
that should be added to her listings. The site's entrance page opens
to the Alphabetized
List. Also available from this page is a section entitled Today
Hooray! which links to sites such as "Pet of the Day,"
"Joke of the Day," and other daily Internet offerings. Separate
sections are also available for links to U.S.A. state sites and research
sites. KidsKonnect state sites show the symbols for each state in
addition to links from other pages relating to the state.
