CONTENT: This is a great resource for parents, teachers, and students to use Discovery Channel programming to make learning more fun.
AESTHETICS: This well designed site uses lots of great, quick loading graphics. All lesson plans have been made available in .rtf format, as well as html, for easy downloading.
ORGANIZATION: This site is organized very well, with a clear hierarchy of pages. The homepage has a top navigation bar in addition to graphic links on the page. Each of the three major sections of the site has a left side menu for navigating that section. There is also a handy site map.
REVIEW: This is an enormously impressive web site. The resources at this site have extremely high educational value, and there are lots of them for both teachers and students. The Discovery School is broken down into three areas: Teachers, Students and Parents. Students will find study tools for help with their homework, fun and games, and interactive learning adventures from Cleopatra's Palace to Space Age Living to Wooly Mammoths. There is a wealth of information for parents on everything from home/school issues to reading to homework help to encouraging children to learn at home. Teachers will not only find excellent lesson plans but also online tools to make their planning easier and lots of materials to enhance their teaching curriculum. A world-class site from a highly respected media source!
