http://www.brightmoments.com/blackhistory/

CONTENT:
The African American History Challenge offers profiles of a dozen important nineteenth century African Americans.
AESTHETICS:
The layout is set in frames and uses colored backgrounds and black and white photographs.
ORGANIZATION:
Profiles can be accessed by clicking on the name in the left frame. Articles appear in the top frame on the right and scrolling is necessary for reading.
REVIEW:
This site profiles famous African Americans of the nineteenth century such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and John Mercer Langston, and Sojourner Truth. Teachers can have their students read the profiles and then take the interactive, self-grading quizzes to test their knowledge. By requesting a free class code, teachers can have students' scores recorded in an online grade book to view how well the entire class did. This would be a good introduction to a study of Black History.
