CONTENT:
EEK, published by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, is an environmental electronic magazine for students in grades 4-8.
AESTHETICS:
The site is vibrant and colorful with high quality photos and child friendly graphics.
ORGANIZATION:
The content is organized into main areas. Links to each area are graphically represented on the main page in addition to the bottom navigation bar. Internal pages display links as a table of contents and have a top navigation bar for moving between the areas and linking back to the home page.
REVIEW:
EEK Environmental Education for Kids is a rich resource for report writing, research, and career interests for students in grades 4-8 as well as an excellent teaching tool to enhance the curriculum. Within the Nature Notes section, students will find lots of useful information about plants, animals, and the world around us. The environment and environmental issues, such as recycling, air quality and endangered species, are covered. Students are given the opportunity to explore environmental careers such as herpetologist, hydrogeologist, naturalist, and park ranger in Get a Job. Cool Stuff has safety tips, rainy day activities, and nature riddles as well as student artwork and writing. Included is a page for teachers that includes activities and educational resources.
