GRADE LEVEL: 9-12

http://www.sptimes.com/annefrank/

CONTENT:
The St. Petersburg Times presents Anne Frank: Lessons in Human Rights and Dignity as part of the Newspaper in Education series that "embraces a broad spectrum of topics using Frank's legacy as a framework."
AESTHETICS:
The site uses original black-and-white as well as color photos to illustrate the articles.
ORGANIZATION:
The 35 articles or chapters that are part of the series are listed as a table of contents on the right side of the main page. Each chapter has a link back to the home page.
REVIEW:
Although this site was published in 1999, it is still a relevant resource for the study of human rights and the Holocaust. The lessons of the past that highlight the "terrible toll of discrimination, hatred and violence" are explored. Excerpts from Anne's diary are used as a framework for understanding the topics and their implications for the future. Most of the chapters offer questions for class discussion, topics for journal writing, or activities that can be done in the classroom or at home. Teachers of history and literature will find this to be a valuable supplement to the curriculum.
